Can someone shed light on Validation of Automated Vehicle Systems using Simulation Tools? Posted: 27 Jul 2020 08:37 PM PDT The idea of verification and validation of Automated Driving Systems(ADSs) is found in many places from research papers to news articles and webinars etc. Can some one shed light on or point to some references for validation of ADSs using simulation or software tools; specifically with respect to planning and control or localization subsystems. Based on some reading, the idea related to validation of perception system was easier to understand in the sense that the perception system results can be validated against a manually labelled data (e.g. validating a traffic sign classification algorithm, we know for sure what to check for) E.g. let's say we are talking about a planning and control subsystem. How are requirements established for the validation of trajectory planning algorithm for that matter? I was trying to find some more information on this which would explain the process in a simple manner. Doing scenario-based testing was one way of doing it in the literature. The question that bugs me is how exactly this process is being carried through use of simulation tools? from the stage of defining requirements to actually testing against those requirements. Any explanation and/or references which would simplify this will be helpful.
