Recreating the Tesla Autopilot's 'Bird's Eye View' model and mapping.

I could relate from Andrej Karpathy's talk (AI For Full Self-Driving) that projecting pixels from image space to something meaningful like top down view using conventional computer-vision could be hard.

In this project, I explore techniques for obtaining bird's eye view from frontal camera images as well as mapping them (Similar to SLAM).

What are your thoughts about this ?

Is there any work, which describes the common metrics, used in order to evaluate the driving quality of an autonomous vehicle?

    Two man crews for railroads

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 12:23 PM PDT

    https://trn.trains.com/news/news-wire/2020/06/03-house-committee-releases-new-five-year-transportation-legislation

This proposed legislation mandates two-man crews for freight trains. As road transport goes driverless, this will spell doom for the railroads as road transport becomes far more efficient.

    Openpilot eye tracking...

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 11:51 AM PDT

This isn't a gloating start, just giving some background information on why I'm asking. So I have a tesla M3 and I don't have to look forward. I can text, play on the screen, etc.

So question is do you always have to have your face and eyes looking forward? What is the ratio? Tesla requires the wheel to be messed with slightly after 45 seconds. BTW I do not spend all my time distracted, just not always staring straight. Any input?

Carla vs AirSim vs Torcs for MultiAgent RL

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 08:44 AM PDT

Hi, I am trying to find a simulator to implement MA RL. At the moment I am using SUMO, but I would like to know about these other ones. Which one do you think it's better for RL research?

    Thanks!
