Level 4/5. How far away are we? Posted: 28 Jun 2020 06:07 AM PDT It's been awhile on this thread it seems since we have assessed how far away we are to full autonomy. I would say my view has been pushed back over time. I really thought we'd have fully autonomous systems by 2025. I just don't see that path anymore. I do believe we will have geofences autonomy in 2025 for certain cities and highways for trucks. I am thinking level 4 or 5 might be closer to 2030 to 2040. Perhaps around 2040 when compute power matches the flops or a human brain if our algorithms aren't able to simplify the problem. It seems to me that to drive a car we will need a convergence of multiple learnings models (physics, human behavior, etc.) to have level 5. This sounds an awful like AGI but I think there is a step before that which hopefully we hit around early 2030s which unlocks autonomy. What are you updated reflections? [link] [comments] | ||
