Why not focus on attainable full self driving for now? Posted: 09 Apr 2020 04:13 PM PDT It seems the most obtainable full self driving technology is freeway on to off ramp. Doesn't it make sense to focus on just this for now and as it gets figured out move on to more challenging scenarios? Isn't there an infrastructure component that goes along with vehicle technology? This focus would allow us to get freeways mapped to a standard and then any maintenance/repair/improvement work would need to be documented and available to mapping programs so that self driving vehicles had less variation to account for. If the freeway doesn't meet the mapping requirements then self driving software disables itself. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
